Story of Baahubali Movie

In the ancient Kingdom of Mahishmati in India, Sivagami, the queen mother (Ramya Krishna) emerges from a cave adjoining a big waterfall, carrying a baby in her arms. She kills the soldiers pursuing her and sacrifices herself to save the baby. Local villagers spot the queen carrying the baby while almost drowning in the river and rescue the infant. The matriarch drowns after pointing towards the mountain above the waterfall.
Sanga (Rohini) and her husband name the infant Shivudu "Shiva" and raise him as their own son. They seal the cave fearing that someone may come to take away the child. Shiva (Prabhas) grows up to be a well-built young man aspiring to climb the mountain and makes many unsuccessful attempts at it much against his mother's wishes. Fearing her child's safety, Sanga reaches out to Swamiji (Tanikella Bharani) who advises her to pour water on the Shivalinga 116 times. When Shiva finds this, he picks the extremely heavy Shivalinga on his shoulders and puts it right below the waterfall which delights his mother.
He then finds the mask of a girl which falls from the mountain. Driven to find out the identity of the girl, he climbs the mountain again and succeeds this time. On top of the waterfall, Shiva discovers that the mask belongs to Avanthika (Tamannaah), a rebellious warrior whose group has indulged in a guerrilla warfare against the tyrannical king Bhallala Deva (Rana Daggubati) of Mahishmati Kingdom. The group intends to rescue their former queen Devasena (Anushka Shetty) who has been chained in the kingdom for the past 25 years. Avanthika is soon romantically attracted to Shivudu. Shiva rescues Avanthika from enemy soldiers, then decides to complete her mission on her behalf and sneaks into Mahishmati to rescue Devasena. Upon reaching the city, Shiva rescues some oppressed slaves and helps them erect the massive statue of Bhallala Deva. Some of the labourers catch a glimpse of Shiva's true face, which eerily resembles that of their long deceased king Baahubali. Soon the whole city chants Baahubali's name, much to Bhallala Deva's anger.
That night, Shivudu sets fire to Bhallala Deva's chambers, rescues Devasena and flees along but is chased down by Bhallala Deva's son, Bhadra (Adivi Sesh) and the royal slave, Kattappa (Sathyaraj), renowned as a warrior. Shiva defeats the soldiers and breaks Bhadra's sword with his bare hands, intimidating him. While fighting Kattappa, Shivudu seizes Baahubali's sword from Kattappa and decapitates Bhadra, who was fleeing away. Kattappa charges at Shiva but surrenders at the last moment realizing that Shiva is Mahendra Baahubali, the son of late king Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas in double role) and Devasena. Sanga tells Kattappa how she had found Shiva as an infant.
A flashback reveals Amarendra Bahubali's past. Kattappa then narrates the story of Amarendra Bahubali, whose father was Vikramadeva and Bhallala Deva, whose father is Bijjala Deva (Nassar). Although the older brother, Bijjala was denied the throne due to his bad habits, but he felt that this was done because of his deformed hand and developed a hatred towards his brother Vikramadeva. Vikramadeva died at a young age; the queen also died giving birth to Amarendra Baahubali while his father had died much before. Bijjala Deva's wife Sivagami took charge of running the kingdom smoothly with Kattappa's assistance until a new king was elected. Amarendra Bahubali and Sivagami's son, Bhallala Deva were brought up together, trained in all areas including arts, science and warfare, but both of them had different approaches towards kingship. Amarendra Baahubali was liberal to everyone while Bhallala Deva was violent and ambitious.
When a war was forced upon Mahishmati by the Kalakeyas, Sivagami promised that the new king would be the one who beheads the Kalakeya chief and ordered that the war resources be distributed equally between the two cousins. Bijjala Deva used his cunningness to make sure Bhalladeva received the maximum resources. Amarendra Baahubali with the limited resources given to him used his skill and innovative war techniques to crush the enemy. Bhallala Deva used all the resources of the army, killing innocent people as well as the enemy, to win the war. When it seemed that Mahishmati would end up being defeated, Amarendra Baahubali inspired his soldiers to fight against death and they ended up crushing the enemy. Despite Bhallala Deva being the one who killed the Kalakeya chief, Sivagami announced Amarendra Baahubali as the new king because of his nobility and leadership in the war and her own son, Bhallala Deva as army general.
After the flashback, Shivudu asks that if Baahubali was such a great warrior, how could he meet his death. Kattappa regretfully tells Shiva that Baahubali was treacherously betrayed and slain. It is then revealed to Shiva, by a sad Kattappa, that it was himself that was the one who had betrayed Baahubali.
